During the nearly three months in which the doors of our bookshop were closed, your memories and support made it possible for the story of the Owls to go on. For as long as we can remember, we kept on staying together, people and books, no matter what came in our way. Our bookshop’s window was open the whole time and will remain like this for many days to come. From the 1st of June, we will reopen our bookshop, which, thanks to Monica Schuller Veilirovici and Ligia Seculici, has a new look. And, yet again, the change will come through our shared stories. This summer, we invite you to join us on a different kind of journey, without time spent in airports, without hotel check-ins, without visiting countries, cities, and museums. Fortunately, books can take us to places where otherwise we would not be able to reach. We will turn into real globe-trotters. We will gain even more from this experience, as, through books, we can travel not only in space but in time, and to fictional worlds as well. Sounds promising, doesn’t it?
The journey we intend you to embark on with us, just like any other journey, starts with a map. We’ve built a virtual bookshop in the shape of a map that will guide us through the 94 stories that we recommend, to 94 destinations. Our bookshop’s physical geography takes a virtual form too, and the journey is a literary one. The starting point of our trip to Ithaca is Timișoara, and we’ll travel, for three months, all over the world. Daily, a book will turn into a travel ticket that will carry us through the country, and beyond its borders: to the East, to Chișinău, Russia, or Baghdad, to the North and West, from Iceland to France and the USA, and to the Neapolitan South. And, when we will reach the edge of the world, we will start all over again at the dawn of literature. We will set sail for Ithaca. The story of all our journeys will end there.
We start from Timișoara…
…but we want those who are not from Timișoara to join us too. We want to set sail together from the same place: we have at hand the same virtual map of the bookshop that will help us open our doors for all readers. We want to let the stories and the bookshop atmosphere embrace you and then, together, suitably equipped, to roam through the world.
Therefore, a double journey – ours, through the world and literature, and literature’s to us all, readers and travelers – is what we want to do this summer. Starting from the 30th of May, we will travel with a different book each day, a book for which you have a 15% discount, both at the bookshop and online. Let the adventure begin!
